Reflection
In a world increasingly shaped by digital images and artificial intelligence, it is becoming harder to tell what is real. Photographs can be generated, voices imitated, and scenes convincingly fabricated. What once felt trustworthy now requires caution and verification. We are learning to live with uncertainty about what we see.
This raises a deeper question beneath the technology: what can we truly trust?
Scripture points us not to systems, appearances, or trends, but to a person. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). While the world shifts rapidly, God’s character remains steady. His love does not evolve with culture, nor does His compassion fluctuate with circumstances.
The clearest revelation of who God is remains the cross. In Jesus, we see love given without reserve, mercy extended to the undeserving, and faithfulness carried through suffering. God has not changed. The same heart that bore our sin and sorrow continues to meet us today with patience, grace, and truth.
The well-known hymn captures this beautifully: “In Christ alone my hope is found.” Our confidence is not anchored in what we can verify or control, but in who Christ is — yesterday, today, and forever.
Trust does not mean ignoring complexity or uncertainty. It means anchoring our lives in what is stable and proven. We may question what we see on a screen, but we do not need to question the nature of God. His goodness is not generated. It is revealed.
When we pray, when we struggle, when we fail, when we hope — we are meeting the same Christ who walked among the broken, touched the unclean, welcomed the outsider, and laid down His life in obedience to the Father. The compassion displayed at Calvary is not ancient history; it is living reality.
In a world where images can deceive and narratives shift daily, we are invited to place our trust not in what looks convincing, but in the God who remains faithful. What was true of Him then is true of Him now — and will remain true forever.
Prayer
Faithful God, in a world of shifting images and uncertain voices, anchor my heart in Your unchanging love. Help me to trust not what merely appears convincing, but what has been revealed in Jesus — Your steadfast love, compassion, truth, and grace. Amen.
