Reflection
In the beginning, God spoke — and creation came into being. Light broke the darkness, land and sea took their place, and life filled the earth. Again and again, God looked upon what He had made and declared that it was good. When His work was complete, He rested on the seventh day, delighting in all that He had made.
The order and beauty of creation invite wonder. The earth is held in perfect balance — positioned neither too close to the sun nor too far away, sustained with everything needed to support life. The heavens declare the glory of God, not through words, but through their quiet faithfulness, day after day. Creation was never meant to stand alone, but to point beyond itself to the wisdom and goodness of its Maker.
God did not create the world in haste or disorder. He shaped it with wisdom, purpose, and care. And having made it, He entrusted it to humanity — not as owners, but as stewards. We were called to tend and keep what God had lovingly formed, to receive creation with gratitude rather than take it for granted.
Yet Scripture also reminds us that creation now groans under the weight of the fall. Because of sin, the world is under a curse, longing for the day of its renewal (Romans 8:19–23). We cannot save the earth, nor are we called to. God Himself has promised a new heaven and a new earth, where all that is broken will be made whole.
Until that day, we are called to live attentively — caring for what God has made, honouring His work, and reflecting His character in how we treat the world around us.
May we never lose our sense of wonder. May we see creation not as something to consume, but as a gift to receive — and may that wonder lead us to praise the Creator who saw that it was very good.
Prayer
Creator God, we thank You for the beauty, order, and goodness of all that You have made. Forgive us when we rush past Your works or take them for granted. Teach us to live as grateful stewards, caring for what You have entrusted to us while trusting You for the renewal You have promised. Restore our sense of wonder, draw our hearts to praise You, and help us to live in a way that reflects Your wisdom and care until the day You make all things new. Amen.
